Roger Morales is an enthusiastic Panamanian naturalist with over eight years of experience in wildlife exploration in Panama. He has been a bird watcher for four years in Western Panama. He recorded four bird species as the first official reports, thus increasing the number of species in the country. Roger is currently guiding adventures at Tranquilo Bay Eco-Adventure Lodge. In 2022, he observed 695 species; in 2023, he observed some 637 species when he became the youngest to reach these figures in Panama. Roger has 508 species digiscoped with the Kowa Prominar TSN-883 spotting scope, and the search continues for more.
He volunteers with Christmas bird counts and monitoring aquatic/shorebirds directed by the Audubon Society of Panama. Roger has participated as a representative or specialist from Western Panama in two conservation plans for migrants and shorebirds supporting the Mesoamerican Caribbean Slope. He has provided training on birdwatching in rural communities.
