Felipe is an enthusiastic naturalist, entrepreneur, and promoter of nature tourism in Colombia. His passion for nature began at a very young age, thanks to his family, who lives in the coffee region of the country and always encouraged him to enjoy natural spaces such as national parks, nature reserves, and coffee farms. This passion grew to the point that it allowed him to become one of the guides with the best knowledge of birds in southwestern Colombia.
From his home in Cali, he has been involved in the training of local guides and the development of birdwatching destinations in his region. He has also had the opportunity to work on various bird research projects, such as raptor migration counts at the Florida Keys Hawkwatch station, the study of the Ornate Hawk-Eagle nesting in Pance, Colombia, and the Anchicayá Nature Camp, a biological study aimed at generating biological inventories in one of the best preserved areas of the Colombian Biogeographic Chocó region.
Through this pursuit of the nearly 2,000 bird species in Colombia, Felipe has led tours with Woodstars Birding & Nature Tours and other companies specializing in birding tourism, butterflies, herpetofauna, and orchids. He is a skilled and experienced digiscoper, and enjoys playing soccer and rugby in his spare time.
