Alvaro Jaramillo

Alvaro has been birding since he was 11 years old, and started guiding local trips as a teenager. He is a biologist, researcher, conservationist, author and professional bird tour guide based in California. He is owner operator of Alvaro's Adventures providing his own style of trip leading to global bird tours - enjoying the experience of travel through birds and having a good time while birding!

He is the author of the American Birding Association Field Guide to the Birds of California, Birds of Chile, & New World Blackbirds: The Icterids (Helm Identification Guides). He is a co-host on the popular, Kowa sponsored LifeList: a Birding Podcast and a contributor on Kowa Sporting Optics webinar series as well.

Alvaro has a unique gift to intertwine aspects of the academic and recreational sides of birding and present it in a fun and engaging way that makes him a joy to be around!
